Enjoy some of Dave’s favorites
He loved music, and could play and sing anything he wanted to. Here are some mentions of my brother, the entertainer.
He would make sure we got these songs in, sometimes even a few times between our sessions. These are some of David’s “go to songs” , being his top songs he liked to perform.
- Dave doing what he loved to do
- Sing another Dave!
- Cripple Creek David was a big fan of the group The Band. This a shorter version, since cut off before all 17 verses, but a good view of him singing and playing this song! And he could remember all 17 verses! Dave also did The Weight very good and sadly cannot find a recording of that song. On the Audio page there is an audio of all 17 verses, and one on other Work it out song lists here of longer versions.
- Brown Eyed Girl – It was such a fun song to play, and I enjoyed this song too.
- When Rita Leaves – A song by Delbert McClinton. Do not have a video, but here is a recording of the first time he played it. Can hear his passion for the song. And good job Dave! And in our latter sessions he’d always manage to get it in o
- Fourth Of July- Song by Shooter Jennings, Here is a video of Dave playing his version, and can see his passion for this song. And he does his version very well!
- Lodi – CCR song. In this audio recording, Dave does a great introduction!
- Hey Tonight – CCR song. Dave would always lead off or say, “Lets do hey tonight!” or, when I heard him start the guitar riffs, I knew what song was coming!
Thanks my brother! - Act Naturally A older song – our Dad Ernie would play this on his banjo when we were kids growing up. Dave would always lead into this on a session, or announce we were gonna play it! Always a fun song. We did it a variety of ways over the years. In earlier years Dave would do a lot of the bass lines too, as you can hear in the 1985 audio tracks of same song, but in later years he still covered it very good, with his great guitar rhythms!
